How was the Body of Knowledge developed?
A Job Analysis Advisory Committee (JAAC) was formed and tasked with the development of a Job Analysis Study titled “A Job Analysis Study of the Healthcare Internal Auditor.” From the Job Analysis Study, the JAAC determined the CHIAP™ Certification Exam would be focused on the Healthcare Internal Audit Body of Knowledge (BOK).
The BOK’s overarching internal audit principles and compliance and privacy principles are applied in the following settings: acute care, post-acute care, ambulatory care and health plan. At the center of the BOK are Business Aspects of Care Setting, Revenue Cycle, Regulatory Environment and Core Business Functions. The BOK consists of 80 categories determined by the JAAC.
